Web Design: My Approach To Working With Clients

There are many web developers who are technical wizards. But will they be able to communicate with you on a level that you understand? Stephen Schildbach communicates in plain English, not technical jargon. He values spending time with the client, in person if possible. Stephen listens to your needs and consults you on a web presence that best suits your business or project.

There are plenty of free online tools out there to build your own website. But, are you able to spend the many hours it takes to build your own site? And, are you ready for the disappointment that comes with finding that what everyone told you was so easy, turned out to be much more complicated and limiting than you thought? Stephen Schildbach believes that a unique, high quality design makes you stand out from all the repetitive template designs out there. Good design is not only pleasing to look at, but generates business too. If you are on a budget, he can also create a simpler design from a template for you. And, for all clients, he aims to educate them about maximizing the potential of their site and making updating the site simple. Read more...

ABOUT SCHILDBACH DESIGN

Stephen Schildbach

Schildbach Design specializes in creating websites and identity for small businesses, sole proprietors, and non-profits. We do projects for the web, print, and environmental graphics. Schildbach Design is Stephen Schildbach with the occasional help of colleagues in the design community when extra needs arise for web development, flash, and photography. Stephen has been a graphic designer and web developer for two years and involved in the commercial arts for 15 years. He works locally in Seattle, WA and has clients throughout the U.S.

Schildbach Design's specialty is designing websites. Most of Stephen's clients are small businesses and non-profits. More specifically, he has done several websites for clients in medicine and counseling.

Stephen creates all websites for the client with W3C compliance, which means your website will not fall apart as technologies change, and the development of the site follows industry standards. He develops the sites using XHTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, and MySQL. For the client who needs to update their own website, the best solution is designing for a Content Management System (CMS). Stephen's favorite CMS's to work with are Concrete5 and Wordpress.

THE WAY I WORK

I am available to work on freelance assignments and part time contracts. While the common demand is "How fast and cheap can I get it", my work ethic is about quality over quantity, enjoyment over speed, and human relationships over professional appearance. In the end, I still am very affordable and get my jobs to the client when they need it.

THE WAY I PLAY

What makes me the happiest is being with my wife Monica. When I'm not at the computer, you'll find me at the yoga studio, on my bike, hiking, camping, backpacking, or cross-country skiing. If I'm not in the Seattle area, I'm either visiting family or on a 3 week adventure in some other part of the world.
